Who this policy covers

This policy explains what ModScout (themodscout.com), operated by Daniel Colwell, collects when you use the site, and why. Contact modscout.dev@outlook.com with any questions.

What we collect

  • Account info — your email address, when you create an account.
  • Garage — vehicles you choose to save to your account (year, make, model, and an optional nickname).
  • Purchases and subscription status — which reports you've bought and your Builder subscription status, needed to grant you access to what you've paid for.
  • Platform requests — the vehicle details you submit when requesting a platform we don't yet support, plus an email address only if you choose to provide one.
  • Payment processing — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details ourselves.

What we deliberately don't collect

Our search analytics table is intentionally built without any personal identifiers: no user account is linked to a search, and no IP address is ever stored alongside one. It only records aggregate counts of what vehicles and categories get searched, not who searched them. We don't sell data to third parties, and we don't use advertising trackers.

Site analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to see aggregate traffic patterns, like which pages get visited and roughly how many people are visiting. It's designed to work without tracking cookies or storing information that identifies you personally.

Cookies

We use one session cookie, set when you sign in, to keep you signed in between visits. We don't use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers to run ModScout. Each only receives what it needs to do its specific job, and none of them are permitted to use your data for their own purposes beyond providing that service to us.

How AI processes your search

When you search a vehicle and category, that query (not your identity) is sent to our AI provider to generate the ranked brand list, and to a search provider to ground the paid report in current information. Under our AI provider's standard API terms, this data is not used to train their models.

How long we keep things

Free report content is cached for up to 60 days before refreshing; paid report content for up to 7 days. Your account, garage, and purchase records are kept as long as your account exists.

If something goes wrong

If we discover a data breach that affects your personal information, we'll notify you as required by applicable law.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing modscout.dev@outlook.com.

Children

ModScout is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as ModScout changes. Material changes will update the date at the top of this page.
